Emotional communication is both the common experience of resonating emotionally with another person or group and a specific clinical technique. Modern psychoanalysis offers a range of theory based, goal-directed techniques in which clinicians use repeated countertransference emotional inductions to make interventions. This event explores the nature and effectiveness of emotional communication in general human interaction and specifically in the analytic session and in the modern psychoanalytic classroom.

Presenters:

Jane Snyder, PhD, Cert.Psya, is the President of BGSP as well as a supervising and training analyst at BGSP.  She has many years of experience working with adults, children and students and has written on clinical issues in modern psychoanalysis.

Jill Solomon, MSW, PsyaD is on the faculty at BGSP. She teaches, supervises and has a private practice. She has special interest in research and analytic training.

Susan Benson, MSW, PsyaD has worked as clinician in a variety mental health settings and private practice.  She is a frequent presenter at BGSP.

Continuing Education Objectives: 

Participants will be able to:

  1. Define the meaning of emotional communication in general and in the clinical setting.
  2. Explore the use of emotional communication as it is used in clinical training.
  3. Apply the method of emotional communication to clinical work and assess its effectiveness.

CE Target audience:  Psychologists (all levels), Social Workers, Counselors

Fee:  Free or $25 per event for 1.5 CE’s/Clock Hours*
