<>Exhibition Theme:> Visual artists are encouraged to submit work related to the theme of Woman.
<>Juried Competition Open to Original Artwork in all Media>: Artists 18 years and older residing in the United States may submit up to 3 works for consideration.
<>Wall-mounted work>: Not to exceed 5’ in height or width, and 60 lbs. All work must be wired and ready for installation.
<>Sculpture:> Must fit through a 36”-wide doorway; work weighing more than 100 lbs. must be hand delivered.
<>Installations:> May not alter the character of gallery walls, ceiling or floor.
<>Multimedia:> Artists are responsible for supplying and maintaining equipment for the duration of the exhibit.
Artists with special installation requirements should be available to assist in the installation of their work. The curator reserves the right to refuse accepted work that arrives damaged, is too fragile to be exhibited, or was misrepresented in submission.
<>How to apply:>
To enter mail completed entry form along with a CD-Rom of your artwork, and the $15 entry fee to: “Woman!” CMPS, 16 West 10th Street, New York, NY 10011. All CDs must be PC compatible; CD-Roms will <>not> be returned. Submission images should be in JPEG format, no larger than 8” in height and 300dpi. A full view of the artwork is required; artists may submit one detail view of each submission if they wish. JPEG files should be named as follows: firstinitial.lastname.abbreviatedtitle.jpg. (For example, w.smith.shorttitle.jpg.) Please label your CD with your name, email address, phone number, and submission titles.
<>Sales, Insurance, and Shipping>: A 30% commission will be assessed to all sales. Artwork will be insured by CMPS while it is in our possession. It is the artist’s responsibility to ship the work to CMPS. CMPS will pay for return shipping in original packing by UPS or the original carrier, insured for the same amount as the artist declared in shipment to CMPS.

<>About the Curator: >Dan Gilhooley is an artist and psychoanalyst. He received his MA in Fine Art from Hunter College, and an MA and PsyaD in Psychoanalysis from the Boston Graduate School for Psychoanalysis. He has exhibited widely in the United States. He was elected to the National Academy of Design in 1991, and received a Gradiva Award from the National Association for the Advancement of Psychoanalysis for art fostering an understanding of psychoanalysis.
<>About the New York Graduate School for Psychoanalysis and the Center for Modern Psychoanalytic Studies: >CMPS offers artists a psychoanalytically informed audience for their work. The Center was founded in 1971 in the heart of Greenwich Village in New York City. Training psychoanalysts for more than thirty years, CMPS is well known for its innovative and comprehensive approach to psychoanalytic technique, and its application of analytic treatment to the widest range of emotional disorders. CMPS is a licensure-qualifying institute whose curriculum fulfills the academic requirements to become a licensed psychoanalyst in NYS. The New York Graduate School for Psychoanalysis offers a master's degree in psychoanalysis. “Woman!” is the fourth in a series of curated art exhibitions. The exhibition will run concurrently with CMPS’ annual fall conference “Sex and the Psyche,” December 6, 2008.
