Personal Statement
Siamak Movahedi, Ph.D., has an L.L.B. in Law (Tehran University), an M.S. in Criminology (California State University), a Ph.D. in Sociology from Washington State University, and a Certificate in Psychoanalysis from the Boston Graduate School of Psychoanalysis. He is a professor of psychoanalysis, the chair of the research department, and the co-director of the Institute for the Study of Psychoanalysis and Culture at the Boston Graduate School of Psychoanalysis. He is also a professor and the chairman of the Department of Sociology at the University of Massachusetts, Boston. He has published numerous papers in psychoanalysis, Social psychology and sociology. His papers have appeared in American Sociological Review, American Psychologist, American Imago, Journal of the American Psychoanalytic Association, Modern Psychoanalysis, Sociology and Social Research, Organization, Journal of Health and Social Behavior, Personality and Social Psychology Bulletin, Comparative Studies in Society and History ; Criminology, Urban Life, and in many other major social science journals. Dr. Movahedi received the Vision Award from the National Association for the Advancement of Psychoanalysis in 1995.
