About Boston

Transportation
The MBTA subway system is most commonly known as the “T”. There are four subway lines that connect at different stations. Each line is designated by color: red, blue, green and orange.
The fare is $1.70 with a Charlie Card or $2.00 without one. Charlie Cards may be purchased online.

The “T” runs everyday from 5:00am until 12:30am. A Night Owl Service is available on Friday and Saturday nights between 1:30am and 2:30am. Buses leave Government Center Station every half hour and travel to most subway station stops. A complete listing of bus and “T” routes, schedules, and fares is available at www.mbta.com.

Taxi cabs have services 24 hours. Taxis are generally more accessible in downtown Boston versus in Brookline; therefore at times you may wish to call a company directly.
