Demiah Crawford
Silence is Violence, 2017

10T clay with underglaze paint
5 ¼ diameter

Silence is Violence came from inspiration of violence against many that is being portrayed in the media and the phrase that stood out to me was “silence is violence.” I want people to notice that I did not include mouths on the faces because it represents the many bystanders in society who allow crimes to happen no matter what race you are. I also included the different skin colors in my piece that end up coming together and forming a globe in the center because it shows that no matter what color we are, the only race that should define us is the human race.”
