Exclamation/Frustration, 2016

Terra Cotta, Underglaze, Glazes
4” x 9” x 14”

Exclamation/Frustration, and the body of work it exists within, is a cry of frustration, a call to action, and a visceral cementation of a personal narrative. It is an imperfect form: warped and sagging and cracking at the seams, the glaze runs and bubbles, the neck and the lip still bear the texture of carving tools and serrated ribs. It would be disingenuous for me to tie the strife-laden narratives of queer life in contemporary society to clean and neatly molded porcelain.”
